New Movies 12/9/2100
The big opening this weekend is New Year's Eve, an ensemble romantic comedy featuring a whole bunch of stars, like Halle Berry and Ashton Kutcher and Sarah Jessica Parker - it's a long list. This one is expected to attract a big audience and bump Twilight right off its first place perch, but the reviews are beyond dismal, even worse than the sparkly vampire story. Also opening big: The Sitter, starring Jonah Hill as a college guy who is roped into babysitting the kids next door, and then gets himself and the children into a whole lot of trouble. Reviews are worse than Twilight, better than New Year's, generally very bad. But don't despair, you can still catch some of the better fall films, like The Descendants, and Hugo, Martin Scorsese's children's story, and Like Crazy is still in a few theaters. Next week Sherlock Holmes opens, and Young Adult goes wide.
